Doraemon Anime Gets First Theme Song Change in 5 Years

It’s been a long ride for Gen Hoshino’s “Doraemon” song, which has served as the theme song for the classic anime of the same name for the past five years. That’s about to change, because the series is getting ready to celebrate the milestone of 45 years of Doraemon films with a brand new theme song.

Hoshino’s song already had its final appearance in the show, and fans can look forward to the new song taking over on November 9. This time the series will see the return of 2007’s “Yume wo Kanaete Doraemon” (“Make Your Dreams Come True, Doraemon”), but with a twist. Multiple versions of the song will play throughout its run, including iconic scenes from films over the years.

Speaking of movies, next up for the series is Nobita’s Picture World Story, which will follows up the act of Doraemon: Nobita’s Earth Symphony as the 44th film in Japan on March 7, 2025. Yukiyo Teramoto is directing, based on a script by series regular Satoshi Ito. Here’s how the official website describes the new film’s story:

The story is set in the magnificent medieval European world depicted in the pictures. Doraemon and his friends dive into the ‘world of pictures’ and have a great adventure in this completely original story!!”
