He’ll be a graveyard smash.
Is your NES resting in your console cemetery out back? If so, it may be time to have it exhumed thanks to Mega Cat Studios’ new NES game: Graveyard Dude. This “top-view box-pusher puzzle game” is now available in physical form for NES, but only 200 copies can be purchased before it returns to the great beyond.
Like all great NES games, Graveyard Dude comes with a somewhat bonkers “clean-up” premise. Henry the Knight awakens in the graveyard he’s meant to be guarding to discover everything in disarray. The dead have arisen, and it’s up to Harry to restore order by returning coffins to the earth, dispelling loitering ghosts, and making his way through the graveyard by collecting keys and skulls.
More specifically, in Graveyard Dude players will:
- Navigate a path through the graveyard and return the disinterred coffins to their proper resting place.
- Collect keys to unlock doors and grab errant skulls to unblock the exit staircase.
- Rewind, if necessary, to go back in time to undo moves.
- Dispel loitering ghosts with magic charms to progress through the graveyard.
- Speedrun through the apocalyptic mess and be visually rewarded for how fast you complete the cleanup.
- Acquire cheat codes after the completing the game.
The $59.99 physical purchase is attached to a good cause, too. The game was developed by and is being released in memory of the late Rani “Timekey” Baker, an unforgettable fixture in the retro gaming community. In honor of her legacy and passion, all profits from the game will go directly to supporting her family.
