I still have no idea what any of *that* was about.
Impressions:
Oh boy. Guess it’s half-assed flashback week all around. And the same tired crap that this show does every week. I don’t want to be involved in these fights. Gonna mope about it for a while. Wait, someone needs help. I completely forgot about that. Guess I’ll go back. It’s even worse because it’s predicated on them fighting a bunch of random gimmicky mooks out of nowhere. One of them ALMOST gets a lucky hit and that’s enough to set off a multi-episode doom-spiraling arc of existential angst when every single episode has already been that. Get a new song and dance already.
But we have our long flashback too, where it’s revealed that… well, not actually anything new is revealed. They wanted to use a widget to do a thing, but it had tragic consequences and thus, heroic sacrifice must be had. Yeah, not sure how the story could’ve advanced without those nuggets of plot. I am so past ready for this season, and year, to be over with.
